Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Coursera, a California-based schooling know-how company, to train and provide coaching on new age courses to girl students of the state.
According to the understanding, fellowships can be given to 2000 girl students from polytechnic and engineering faculties in the state to get completely different on-line certificates courses like information analytics, metaverse certification and AI. They can be taught the worth added and new age certification courses at no cost, mentioned the official sources.
“Coursera is one of the world’s largest online learning platforms. A student can learn many courses through this platform and get employment in related industries,” mentioned Reghu G, director, technical schooling and coaching, on the Odisha Skill Conclave right here on Thursday.
Raghav Gupta, managing director (India and Asia Pacific), Coursera, mentioned, “We are honoured to partner with the Odisha government and support their vision of building a more equitable society, empowering more women to unlock their full earning potential and thrive in the digital economy.”
He mentioned they’ve created a profession academy on their edu tech platform. “We have focussed on 30 job roles, mostly digital jobs. We have created content for these job roles. We have introduced industry micro-credentials (small qualifications) to help people learn new and targeted skills to get jobs. Companies like Google, IBM are teaching data analytics, while Meta is teaching software development,” he added.
He mentioned some courses will take six to 9 months for a pupil. One course has a number of smaller certificates. “We have video-based content. Experts from top technology companies will teach students,” he added.
The state government has signed a complete of 12 MoUs with the Singapore-based ITE Education Services, Drone Federation of India and a few of the worldwide firms on the conclave to promote skilling and create a strong talent ecosystem with main organisations and establishments.
