Fatal crash suspect, Indian-origin man, surrenders after 2-year evasion

A person of Indian origin has lastly come ahead to face prices, two years after a deadly collision in Brampton claimed the lifetime of a younger lady.

A 27-year-old, Harkamalpreet Singh surrendered to police in Kenora, Ontario, on January 9.


The incident occurred on the morning of November 5, 2021, close to the intersection of Sandalwood Parkway and Dixie Road. Singh, allegedly driving a black automobile erratically, was noticed by an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer who tried to tug him over.

However, Singh fled the scene, resulting in a quick pursuit that was quickly discontinued, reported Toronto CTV News.

Shortly after, Singh’s automobile collided with a pink automotive, and the 21-year-old lady died. The driver of the pink automotive, Shellome Peart, was pronounced lifeless on the scene.

Another co-passenger, a 25-year-old, sustained life-threatening accidents and was hospitalised.


Singh roamed free for over two years earlier than lastly surrendering to the authorities. He now faces a number of prices associated to the crash, together with, harmful operation inflicting loss of life, flight from a peace officer, and failure to cease at an accident leading to loss of life, in keeping with a CP24 report.

An investigation has additionally been launched to look into the officer’s actions in initiating the pursuit.

However, the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) concluded that the officer’s conduct didn’t contribute to the collision and no legal prices have been warranted.
