Several photographs and movies of Israeli soldiers enjoying and posing with lingerie present in deserted Palestinian properties in Gaza have surfaced on social media, triggering world outrage.

UN Human Rights Office spokesperson Ravina Shamdasani stated such photos and movies of Israeli soldiers’ actions had been “demeaning to Palestinian women and all women”.

“The posting of such images is demeaning to Palestinian women, and all women,” she was quoted by Reuters as saying.

In response, an Israel Defence Forces (IDF) spokesperson stated the army expects soldiers to comply with orders and values, and probe incidents of those that deviate from the principles and movies and photographs uploaded on social media.

“In cases where suspicion of a criminal offence arises that justifies opening an investigation, an investigation is opened by the military police,” it stated in an announcement.
